As with any great artist, inspiration comes in many forms, and is often as close as an arm’s length. For Amir it’s no different, his colleagues and friends as well as the causes he believes in supply the fire and perspective that fuel much of his creativity. Javiera Estrada (www.javieraphotography.com) is one great source of inspiration. Her work is a mixed media of photography and painting, which embodies the dark intensity of her personality. She pours everything she has into each piece, as Amir describes it, “she comes from the heart and goes all the way.” Another artist that is one of Amir’s favorites is someone he simply refers to as Ali from Timbuctu (www.timbuctustate.com). It’s Ali’s process of creating tribal designs and roots imagery as well as the quality of his work that has the vibe that Amir likes. When not shooting and experiencing other artists’ work he is also involved with the group Off the Matt Into the World (www.offthematintotheworld.org). Amir finds a great amount of purpose in their cause of going around the world, helping others by developing community through yoga. When back in the studio he enjoys his collabortations with Josh Weiss (www.jweisscreative.com). It’s the process of working with this dj/photographer/programmer that Amir enjoys the most. Without too much emphasis or thought about the end result Amir stays in the moment during the process and most often gives life to work that is both inspired and inspiring.
