As for most dedicated artists it is difficult for Amir to separate his art from the rest of his life. It actually propels most other facets, as Amir is an avid traveler and often does so for a shoot. Even his love of martial arts, especially capoeira, and his yoga practice are intertwined with his photography; as every sunday he heads to the beach for some sun, stretching and networking. Amir uses other mediums of art to stay fresh in his work, describing the difference between “digital art, which is clean and easier but also less inspiring.” In contrast to more organic artistic forms, “sometimes I need to get in there and get messy.” May it be visual art or music, Amir enjoys the creation process and desires to be fully immersed in it. His real departure from the camera arrives at the end of the week, as Amir closes his studio doors for shabbat and heads into Topanga Canyon, to enjoy rest and relaxation in nature, while making music and spending quality time with loved ones.
