Andrew’s artistry is based deeply in performance. His animated personality is reflected in the irony of his lyrics and the quirkiness of his sound, while his sincerity and intrigue pull in listeners and musicians alike. He values the relationships that arise as a result of the music even more than the songs themselves saying, “I’ve gotten more from writing and playing music, than I ever thought I would. It’s particularly the relationships that I have created that mean so much. That’s why I like being in a band, it’s the process of doing it with other people that I really enjoy.” With an almost child like attitude Andrew has, in the more recent part of his career, written songs that embrace love and laughter. More recently,however, he has had to shift gears and with the intention of starting a family, and beginning the next phase of his life, Andrew returned home to Portland to settle down. It’s the scarcity of not doing music that inspires him the most these days, as he must now work twice as hard to tell his story. His time is spent now fueling the fire, as opposed to trying to get something out of it. He says, “the fear of loss can be more motivating than the hope of gain.”
