Brian Ulrich – Versatility

Brian Ulrich – Versatility

Just as Brian in not limited by one artistic medium, within those individual expressions he flexes a great amount of versatility. As a musician Brian produces music, and plays multiple instruments. His tastes and sensibilities lead him to projects of varying styles and genres. One of those projects, called The Aventine (aventinemusic.net), was produced by Brian and had him playing most of the instruments. It’s a collaboration with composer/guitarist Jason Heath (www.jasonheathmusic.com/) and singer Hilary Gay (www.myspace.com/hilarygaymusic), in which all the members share writing responsibilities. The concept for the name and the intention of the group came from history, as the Aventine was one of the original Seven Hills of Rome. It was at a time the poorest and most dangerous areas of Rome, and over the course of time and through the hard work of many individuals become one of the greatest. Brian says, “Rome wasn’t built in a day or by one person, this project is a never ending pursuit to keep building.” Another project that Brian embarked on was SUVA (www.myspace.com/suvamusic), a group formed with one of his closest friends Dan Maiman. The group focused on creating high energy, action sport inspired music that was both edgy and musical. They were able to fuse elements of electronic music into a rock format, with Brian once again wearing many of the hats, including producer, guitar/keyboard player, and programmer. As a result of the record they have had opportunities to write for companies like Quicksilver, Vans and Fuse TV. Always looking to expand his horizons and challenge himself, Brian brings a little something for everyone to the table.
