Eli’s intentions in his artistry are about creating community and deep connections. His music stems from having an image in his head, and translating that into a musical experience. Whether leading his own groups or playing as a sideman, he pours himself joyfully into every note. It’s that joy that he wants to convey to his audience, and share with his fellow musicians. He talks about how, “being a musician means you play a gig with someone and you can become friends for life.” There isn’t a specific message in Eli’s music, as much as a feeling, which opens up a whole pathway of musical memories. He encourages everyone he plays with to bring that same kind of personal experience to the table. He says, “I love listening to bands that are a unique amalgamation of people that enjoy making music together.”
