With years of of musical and life experience under his belt, Evan set out to create a work of personal expression. He chose an ensemble with no chordal instrument because of both the freedom as well as the constraints that approach lends. He says, “we are working with single lines that are interlocking, and it must be played properly in order to sound cohesive. We don’t have the luxury that a piano or guitar bring, but when it does work we don’t miss the chordal instrument at all.” He remarks about how exciting it is to play with each musician, and speaks enthusiastically about them as soloists. The record was released on October 6th, independently and has been met with stellar reviews. Evan credits the cohesive sound with playing the material for a year before going into the studio. He says, “by the time we got in the studio the sound had already evolved to where it needed to be.”
